MOSCOW, April 17 (RAPSI) - Famous American film director Bryan Singer is accused of sexual abuse against a teen actor, according to the civil lawsuit filed in Hawaii, CNN reported on Thursday.

Lawsuit, cited by CNN, contains claims of the actor who was 17 years old in 1998-1999 and who was allegedly sexually abused by Singer at the time. According to the lawsuit, Singer offered a role in the “X-Men” film to the young actor in exchange for sexual services, while threatening to ruin actor’s film career if his demands would not have been met.

Singer’s representative told CNN that these accusations are “completely without merit” and that director would be vindicated. "It is obvious that this case was filed in an attempt to get publicity at the time when Bryan's new movie is about to open in a few weeks," said Singer’s representative, as quoted by CNN.

Bryan Singer is a successful film director, most famous for directing of the “Superman returns” film and two first films of the “X-Men” film franchise. Latest “X-Men” franchise installment directed by Singer, "X-Men: Days of Future Past", is set to hit big screen on May 23.
