MOSCOW, November 28 (RAPSI) - The Supreme Court of Russia upheld the life sentence handed down to rampaging lawyer Dmitry Vinogradov who was found guilty of six counts of murder, RAPSI reported from the courtroom on Thursday.

The court thus rejected an appeal filed by Vinogradov's defense lawyer. The attorney insisted that Vinogradov was insane in flagrante delicto. According to him, Vinogradov can't accept responsibility for his actions that's why he must be sent for compulsory treatment.

Vinogradov, 30, a Moscow lawyer, went into the office of the pharmaceutical company he worked for on the morning of November 7, 2012, and shot at his colleagues, killing three men and two women and wounding a fourth man, who later died in hospital.

Hours before the shooting, Vinogradov posted a message on a social network about his homicidal agenda and expressed hatred for the human race.

Vinogradov wrote that humankind had defied the laws of nature in its relentless quest for eternal life and this has been a slap in the face of natural selection. Thus, not only have we lost sight of genetic weakness, but we have even encouraged its perpetuation under the guises of "humanity" and "tolerance," he wrote.

Forensic experts confirmed his sanity during the investigation. Vinogradov was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code, including murder, attempted murder, and supporting extremism.
