MOSCOW, September 4 (RAPSI) - A 58-year-old man was ordered to wear a sign branding him an “idiot” in a measure of public shaming ordered by a local judge as a consequence of the man’s threats to kill police officers via 911 calls, Sky News reported Wednesday.

Sky News footage shows Richard Dameron holding the sign on an Ohio sidewalk in front of a police station explaining: “I was under the influence of alcohol… very deeply into it, and we just got to rambling off… started acting like fools with a couple others. I apologize for everything I’ve done. I do feel bad about it, because the man’s never done nothing to me.”

In the footage, Dameron is shown with a large yellow sign strapped to his torso. The text of the sign states: “I apologize to Officer Simone & all police officers for being an idiot calling… threatening to kill you. I’m sorry and it will never happen again.”

Sky News reported that the presiding judge had previously ordered a similar public shaming measure in the case of a woman who drove around a school bus.

According to local NBC affiliate WKYC, Dameron was ordered to hold the sign by Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Pinkey Carr.
