RIGA, August 12 (RAPSI) - Latvian parents, whose appeal to register their son under the name Miron has been rejected, are going to file an application with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), the leader of movement "Return our names" Ruslan Pankratov told RIA Novosti.

In spring 2013, Liepaja resident Sergei Antonov appealed in court to register his newborn under the name Miron rather than Mirons, because the latter sounds close to 'mironis,' which in Latvian means 'deceased.'

In July, the Liepaja Administrative court rejected the appeal.  According to Pankratov, the family vows to appeal the ruling and leaves open the access to the ECHR.  At the moment, the child is not officially named.
