CAIRO, June 10 (RAPSI, Rafael Daminov) - The retrial of former President Hosni Mubarak, the main suspect in the death of protesters in Cairo in January 2011, has been postponed until July 6.

The third hearing dealt with material evidence and lasted for around two hours on Monday. The court considered police records concerning the distribution of weapons and tear gas. The court also has at its disposal videotapes of clashes between protesters and the security forces.

As before, the hearing was postponed upon the request of the presiding judge, who said new evidence must be considered more carefully. The case materials now run around 55,000 pages. The prosecution promised to present new evidence in court to prove that Mubarak was involved in the death of numerous opposition figures.

Other suspects in the case are former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly, six former senior officials of the Interior Ministry and the ousted dictator's sons Alaa and Gamal, who are in prison on corruption charges.

On June 2, 2012, Mubarak and el-Adly were sentenced to life in prison for ordering the use of live bullets during the dispersal of protesters in January 2011, but an appeals court later overturned the sentence and ordered a retrial.

Mubarak was also charged with selling gas to Israel at a reduced price.
