BELGOROD, May 13 (RAPSI) - A UK citizen who ordered heroin to be sent from his home country to his hotel in Belgorod has been sentenced to one year in prison, a regional court reported on Monday.

The individual had been staying in Belgorod on a business visa. He made the order by phone.

"In February, the police detected and seized an envelope containing 0.73 grams of heroin at a local post office," the court said. "The package arrived from the UK. It had the Englishmans name on it and it was addressed to his hotel room." The foreigner has been accused of attempting to purchase drugs in a large quantity without the purpose of resale.

Based on the suspect's request, his case was considered following a specialized procedure. The Belgorod District Court convicted him and sentenced him to one year in prison.
