MOSCOW, November 20 - RAPSI, Sergei Feklyunin. The Visa International Service Association has filed a lawsuit with the Moscow Commercial Court against Internet businessman Igor Sergiyenko, demanding that he be deprived of the Signature brand, the court's representative told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) on Tuesday.

The lawsuit will be considered on its merits on December 7. The Federal Service for Intellectual Property, Patents and Trademarks has been involved in the case as a third party.

Visa is seeking to terminate the legal protection of the trademark of the 36th class of the International Classification of Goods and Services, which includes services such as insurance, financial activity, monetary operations and property transactions.

RAPSI has yet to obtain comments from the parties. The defendant did not attend the preliminary hearing held on October 26, however the court found the he was not duly notified.

Visa is a global payment system providing access to electronic payments network to holders of cards, trade and service enterprises, financial and governmental institutions in over 200 countries.
