MOSCOW, November 2 - RAPSI. Investigators have submitted to the court the criminal case materials on the murder of Colonel Yuri Budanov, Investigative Committee official spokesperson Vladimir Markin told RIA Novosti on Friday.

"The case against Yusugg Temerkhanov, who is charged with committing an assassination on grounds of hatred and animosity against a social group, has been submitted to the court," he said.

The maximum sentence is life imprisonment.

Investigators reported that the man decided to commit the murder after his father was killed in Chechnya in 2000. Temerkhanov's victim of choice was Budanov, who was known for kidnapping and murdering Chechen Elza Kungayeva in 2000.

Budanov was shot dead in June 2011, as he walked out of a notary office on Komsomolsky Prospekt, Moscow. Investigators reported that Temerkhanov shot him eight times.
