MOSCOW, October 29 - RAPSI. A court has placed a Thai boxer under arrest who was charged with punching a Saratov resident to death, the Investigative Committee reports.

The athlete faces up to 15 years in prison for manslaughter.

During the investigation, friends and acquaintances of the defendant said that he had been practicing Thai boxing for 15 years and had taken part in various competitions.

A similar incident took place in central Moscow in mid-August 2011. Agafonov was taken to a hospital, where he died several days later without regaining consciousness.

Last week, the court also put a boxer under house arrest for beating a man to death outside a nightclub in the Sverdlovsk Region.
