MOSCOW, October 24 – RAPSI. The Investigative Committee will seek to deprive opposition figure Alexei Navalny of his attorney status, deeming his legal experience insufficient, Izvestia has reported on Wednesday.

According to the paper, the committee has already requested Navalny's documents from the Kirov Regional Bar Association where he received the attorney status.

The commission members who examined him have also been questioned.

When passing the exam, Navalny did not have sufficient legal experience, which must be no less than two years, the paper cited the investigators as saying. Additionally, after becoming an attorney, he became engaged in entrepreneurial activity, which is forbidden, they added.

The Investigative Committee cannot directly ask a bar association to deprive an attorney of his status. Such an application must be submitted to the Justice Ministry, which then forwards it to the region's association. The paper said the Moscow Bar Association has not received such an application from the Justice Ministry. If it is received, one month will be granted for its consideration.
