MOSCOW, October 12 - RAPSI. Russia has not yet received information about the cargo seized by the Turkish authorities from the passenger aircraft heading from Russia to Syria, a Foreign Ministry source told journalists.

The Syrian plane flying from Moscow to Damascus was forced to land in Ankara on Wednesday night. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the plane carried military-purpose cargo in breach of civil aviation rules. The aircraft also reportedly had 35 passengers on board, including 17 Russians.

According to the source, Russia is awaiting information on the reasons for the confiscation.

"The Russian Embassy has repeatedly requested and continues to request this information from Turkey," the source said.

"We hope to receive this information soon," he added.
