MOSCOW, October 12 - RAPSI. On Friday, the Moscow City Court upheld the Nagatinsky District Court's judgment ordering Aeroflot airlines to compensate 46 crew members for harmful and dangerous work conditions and nightwork bonuses, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com).

On June 22, the court partially upheld Aeroflot's appeal challenging the State Labor Inspectorate's order to pay crew members extra wages for their first 32 flight hours a month, as well as compensation for harmful and dangerous work conditions and nightwork bonuses. The watchdog inspected the airline and demanded that it should rectify a number of problems by December 12, including the payment of bonuses.

On October 12, the court sided with the airlines and declared that the system of issuing additional payments to pilots from their 33rd flight hour in a month is legal. However, the court obligated Aeroflot to pay for hazardous and dangerous work conditions, as well as night work.

Employees maintain that Aeroflot asked them to sign a supplementary employment agreement in 2010, promising them that their wages would be raised. However, the airline included the bonuses in their wage, which the employees claimed runs counter to the law. Aeroflot, however, believes this practice is not illegal.

The employees also pointed out some other violations in the agreements.

Aeroflot is a member of the SkyTeam air alliance. It is based at Sheremetyevo International Airport. The Federal Agency for State Property Management is Aeroflot's primary shareholder, holding a 51.17 percent stake in the company. Aeroflot flies to 898 destinations in 169 countries.
