MOSCOW, October 9 - RAPSI. The Airborne Troop Veterans Association, which has taken part in numerous opposition events, accused the channel NTV of having committed libel in its film, "Anatomy of Protest-2." The association is determined to sue the company for $32,000, Izvestia daily reported on Tuesday.

The film was broadcast last Thursday on NTV, which is owned by the state-run gas giant Gazprom, and provoked a public uproar. The film alleges that the opposition is plotting a coup using foreign funds and foreign militants.

The film has placed the blame for the unauthorized rallies and the resistance against police officers on the Association's head Mikhail Vistitsky. The film alleges that Vistitsky personally bought the metal chains that the protesters used to tie themselves together.

The film also features extracts from Vistitsky's alleged interview with the Georgian PIK TV station. However, Vistitsky said the interview was filmed for a documentary by filmmaker Vladimir Sher.

"Vladimir has refuted NTV's allegations on Youtube, but the channel now says this was their story. This means that their libel is combined with wrongful accusations against Sher," Vistitsky said.

NTV has thus far refrained from making any comments.
