MOSCOW, October 5 - RAPSI. The Tverskoy District Court has upheld the 15-day arrest of Murad Agalarov, who fired a non-lethal gun into the air while driving in a wedding procession in Moscow on September 30, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) on Friday.

"The court has turned down Agalarov's appeal against his arrest," the court said.

Previously, the police decided to refrain from opening a criminal case against several individuals who stopped their vehicle in traffic and began firing a non-lethal gun while driving in a wedding procession.

The procession was led by a Ferrari followed by other luxury vehicles, Gazeta.Ru reported earlier. The formation blocked Moscow traffic when the passengers began to fire the weapon into the air. The members of the wedding party justified their actions by claiming that it is a Dagestani cultural tradition. A non-lethal gun is an informal term for a self-defense weapon firing rubber bullets.

The police detained the perpetrators and reported the incident.

According to the police, their report included a violation of the rules for handling non-lethal weapons and owning vehicles with dark tinted windows.

The detainees were later released.

The police reported on Monday that the gun was confiscated from one of the individuals, and he was fined 2,000 rubles ($65). He may also be deprived of his license for the weapon.

Agalarov was sentenced to the 15-day arrest for publicly using foul language, which constituted flagrant disrespect to the individuals around him.
