MOSCOW, October 2 - RAPSI. A man who began shooting a non-lethal gun during a wedding procession in central Moscow over the weekend has been sentenced to a 15-day arrest by the magistrate's court, a spokesman of the Interior Ministry's Moscow Department told RIA Novosti.

Previously, the police decided to refrain from opening a criminal case against several individuals who, while driving in a wedding precession on Sunday, stopped their vehicle in traffic and began firing a non-lethal gun.

The procession was led by a red Ferrari and filled out with other luxury cars, according to Russian media outlet Gazeta.ru. The formation had been blocking central Moscow traffic when passengers began to fire at the sky using non-lethal pistols. The members of the wedding party justified their actions by claiming that firing into the air is a Dagestani cultural tradition.

Non-lethal gun is an informal term for a self-defense weapon that uses non-explosive ammunition.

The police detained the perpetrators and reported the incident. According to the police, their report included a violation of the rules for handling non-lethal weapons and owning vehicles with dark tinted windows. The detainees were later released. The police reported on Monday that the gun was confiscated from one of the gunmen and he was fined 2,000 rubles ($65). In addition, he may also be deprived of his license for the weapon.

"Having considered the administrative cases submitted by the police, the court ruled to put the individual in custody for 15 days," the ministry said.
