MOSCOW, September 19 - RAPSI. The Basmanny District Court has upheld the refusal of an investigator to initiate a criminal case against superior Rashid Gabdulin who interrogated Artyom Savyolov about his involvement in Moscow's May 6 riots without a lawyer, the suspect's attorney Farid Murtazin told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) Wednesday.

"We asked to initiate a criminal case against the investigator who allowed the police officers to interrogate Artyom Savyolov," Murtazin said. "They threatened him and wanted him to give a false statement. Specifically, they wanted him to say he was fulfilling the orders of Navalny, Yashin, and the rest of them."

An examination was held under the first application on the crime.

On Wednesday, the Basmanny District Court dismissed the attorney's appeal and validated the investigator's actions.
Additionally, the court dismissed another two appeals filed by Savyolov on Wednesday. The first dealt with the fact that the defendant was given an opportunity to familiarize himself with members of the investigative group late.

In the third appeal, the attorney asked to allow his client to see his father. He is legally entitled to see him twice a month.

The court sided with the prosecutor, and did not satisfy any appeals submitted by Savyolov's defense.

Clashes with police flared up during an opposition march in Moscow on May 6. The public demonstration had been granted a permit by the authorities.

Dozens of protesters and police officers were injured, while the police detained over 400 rally participants.

In June, investigators searched the homes of the rally organizers and participants, including those of Alexei Navalny, Sergei Udaltsov, Ilya Yashin, and Boris Nemtsov.Thirteen individuals were detained in the investigation - Alexandra Dukhanina, Andrei Barabanov, Maxim Luzyanin, Yaroslav Belousov, Rikhard Sobolev, Vladimir Akimenkov, Oleg Arkhipenkov, Fyodor Bakhaov, Savelov, Alexander Kamensky, Mikhail Kosenko, and Stepan Zimin.
Kamensky was later released. No charges were brought against him.

Maria Baronova, who was released, is also a suspect in the case.

Luzyanin, Barabanov, Zimin, Lutskevich, Dukhanina, Belousov, Savyolov, and Kosenko were charged with inciting the riots. Almost 1,300 people were called upon to testify in the case.
