VLADIVOSTOK, September 14 - RAPSI. The Supreme Commercial Court of Russia will not impose any restrictions on social media coverage of court hearings, Chairman of the Supreme Commercial Court Anton Ivanov announced on Friday.

This was Ivanov's response to questions over the court's resolution on publicizing commercial trials.

The Supreme Commercial Court Panel will consider the draft resolution on September 20.

Ivanov clarified that the initiative is a response to recent incidents in Moscow district courts where journalists were banned from tweeting their courtroom reports during high-profile hearings.

"Moreover, there have been cases when judges were reluctant to reveal any information about the progress of a trial. We have decided that our stance should be clear and consistent," the court chairman said during a break in the APEC Summit.

Ivanov added that he expects the Supreme Court's viewpoint on the issue to be supported by the judicial community at the upcoming judicial conference.
