MOSCOW, September 4- RAPSI. The Supreme Commercial Court returned Pravda.ru's application for supervisory review of a court ruling to recover 1.1 million rubles ($34,080) in compensation from Yandex for the latter's distribution of Andrei Karaulov's film, "Khodorkovsky. Pipes/Corpses".

The court ruling states that Pravda.ru missed the window for filing its application.

According to the plaintiff, the defendant reproduced and distributed Karaulov's film on its website on March 16. The plaintiff holds a license contract which gives it the film rights.

The lawsuit reads that the film was shown on the website under the Yandex logo. Additionally, over 50 texts, to which the plaintiff also holds the rights, were posted on Yandex.

The Moscow Commercial Court dismissed the lawsuit in full on July 25, 2011, but Pravda.ru appealed the ruling at the court of appeals. The court ended these proceedings on October 28, 2011, as the term to appeal the trial court decision had expired.

On January 20, 2012, the Moscow District Federal Commercial Court validated the lawfulness of the court acts in the case.

Yandex is a major Russian Internet search engine. Preliminary estimates of its 2010 financial results show that Yandex revenues have jumped by 43 percent year-on-year to reach 12.5 billion rubles (circa $387 million).

Pravda.ru is the founder of an on-line publication of the same name. It was established in 1999 by journalists, who previously worked for Pravda daily until the newspaper's editorial board divided due to the sale of the publication.
