MOSCOW, July 23 - RAPSI. Moscow investigators have opened a case against U.S. citizen Susanna Dikker who is suspected of large-scale customs duty evasion, the Investigative Committee reports on Monday.

According to investigators, Dikker, 50, an air hostess of a well-known airline arrived at Sheremetyevo Airport from New York. She crossed the border through the "nothing to declare" green corridor. There she was stopped for customs control.

"A personal customs inspection revealed that the woman had jewelry on her person and an expensive watch worth a total of over eight million rubles ($250,000). Dikker had therefore attempted to evade three million rubles ($94,000) in customs duty payment," says the report.

Dikker was detained on Monday and the measure of restraint against her has yet to be determined. The maximum punishment for the offence is five years in prison.
