MOSCOW, July 16 - RAPSI. The Moscow City Court has deemed renowed counsel Igor Trunov's complaint against its chairperson frivolous. Trunov filed a complaint with the Supreme Court qualification board about the conduct of Moscow City Court chairperson Olga Yegorova.

He told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com) that in February he appealed against the Interstate Aviation Committee's (IAC) decision on the Yaroslavl air crash which killed the local hockey team in Zamoskvoretsky District Court.

Trunov believes that the tragedy was caused by aircraft technical defects, rather than the crew's mistake. According to Trunov, he learnt that the court had considered his appeal without notifying him of its hearing. The lawyer then complained of this to the Moscow City Court. He had been waiting for the outcome for several months, he said.

The Moscow City Court press service head Anna Usachyova told RAPSI that a court chairperson is prohibited by law from interfering into a case being tried by another court. Usachyova has recommended the counsel to stop proclaiming invalid information about the investigation and the time of the case review, but to study the materials and prepare for his clients' defense in a professional manner.

As for the question of Yegorova's incompetence, spokesperson believes it was a strange attempt on the part of the attorney to draw the chairperson's attention to this specific case.
