MOSCOW, June 28 - RAPSI. The Moscow City Court jury will hear the case of former Investigative Committee officer Andrey Grivtsov charged with extorting a $15 million bribe, his attorney Vladimir Zherebenkov told the Russian Legal Information Agency on Thursday.

"The court has satisfied the defendants request for a trial by jury," said the lawyer.

According to the investigation, the then major investigator Andrei Grivtsov colluded with counsel Ruslan Parkin to extort $15 million from Rosenergomash President Vladimir Palikhata and lawyer Mikhail Vytnov, who were under threat of prosecution. The scheme involved two other accomplices, one of whom was an Interior Ministry officer.

Palikhata turned to the police, who then took the matter in hand.

The suspects have been accused of "attempted large-scale bribe extortion", a crime punishable by a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
