VILNIUS, June 22 - RAPSI. A Vilnius court has fined a man 145 euros for having Soviet insignia on his car, Delfi online resource reports.

On June 1, the traffic police detained a man, 44, for displaying Soviet symbols on the license plate frame of his Volkswagen Golf. The offence was submitted to the court, which then fined him 500 litas (145 euro) and confiscated the license plate frame.

According to the Lithuanian law passed in 2008, it is prohibited to publicly display Nazi and Soviet insignia in the country. The offence is regulated by the Administrative code and stipulates a fine from 500 to 1000 litas (145 to 190 euros).
