KIEV, June 8 - RAPSI. The trial of former Ukrainian Interior Minister Yuri Lutsenko has been suspended until June 13, due to the judge being unwell.

In addition to journalists, the case hearing was attended by Lutsenko's relatives and several politicians, including Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Verkhovna Rada MP and leader of the Front for Change.

The next hearing will take place at 9.15 (10.15 Moscow time) on June 13.

Lutsenko has been charged of organizing the illegal shadowing of former driver of previous first deputy chairman of the security service of Ukraine Vladimir Satsyuk when investigating the poisoning of former president Viktor Yushchenko. In February, Lutsenko was found guilty of abuse of office and state property embezzlement and was sentenced to four years in prison.

Lutsenko's defense claims the trial has been marred with numerous violations. Defense attorney Alexei Baganets noted that the court illegally initiated separate proceedings in the case. He also expressed concern over the slow progress on Lutsenko's appeal against his illegal arrest in the European Court of Human Rights. He said that Lutsenko's appeal is still under consideration, while the court has already passed decisions over several complaints which were filed later. He said he did not know the reason for the delay.
