MOSCOW, May 12 - RAPSI. The Presnensky district court in Moscow will hear an appeal today filed by renowned whistleblower and opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who was placed under administrative arrest on May 9 for resisting police authority, his defense attorney Vadim Kobzev told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) on Saturday.

Kobzev said he lodged the appeal on Saturday morning and the court will hear it today in the afternoon.

Navalny was detained together with Left Front coordinator Sergei Udaltsov during the opposition rally in central Moscow early on May 8. Both have been charged with violating rally procedures.

Navalny and Udaltsov are currently serving 15-day arrest sentences.
