MOSCOW, April 27 - RAPSI, Sergei Feklyunin. The Moscow Commercial Court has registered the Deposit Insurance Agency's bankruptcy petition for the United Industrial Corporation.

The petition was filed on April 25. The hearing has yet to be scheduled.

The United industrial Corporation positions itself as the managing company of the United Industrial Corporation owned by former Senator Sergei Pugachyov. However, Sergei Miroshnikov, the agencys first deputy director, told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.ru) that "from a legal point of view the company is not a holding structure."

Yelena Kravtsova, the agency's lawyer, confirmed the petition and said the company owes nearly 448 million rubles ($15.3 million) to Mezhprombank.

The United Industrial Corporation was one of the largest investment management companies in Russia until recently. Its assets management portfolio amounted to over 300 billion rubles ($10.3 billion). The company is engaged in the financial industry, shipbuilding, development, coal mining, aviation industry and transport.

Mezhprombank, part of the United Industrial Corporation, was declared bankrupt in November 2010.
