PERM, April 5 - RAPSI. A court in the Urals has dismissed the local resident's defamation lawsuit against lower house deputy and former presidential candidate Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

The claimant sought to recover 60,000 rubles ($2,000) from Zhirinovsky in moral damages. He felt insulted by an online video, in which the MP was dwelling on the Urals region residents without mincing his words. The link to the video with a commentary was posted on the Komsomolskaya Pradva newspaper website.

The claimant also wanted the newspaper to refute the statements.

There is so far no information about the reasons for the dismissal, but an appeal against it is quite possible.

Earlier Zhirinovsky's press secretary called the video a provocation, dirty political technology and a frame-up.
