MOSCOW, January 12 - RAPSI. Investigators have reduced the charges against martial arts champion Rasul Mirzayev who killed 19-year-old student Ivan Agafonov, Oksana Mikhalkina, the attorney of Agafonov's relatives, told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI/rapsinews.com).

"Today, investigators charged Mirzayev with involuntary homicide, which is less serious than the previous charge of malicious injury leading to death," the attorney said.
RIA Novosti has yet to reach the investigators for comments.

Mikhalkina also said Mirzayev faced up to 15 years in prison and now up to two years.

According to law enforcement authorities, Mirzayev punched Agafonov near a nightclub in downtown Moscow on August 13. Agafanov was taken to a hospital, but did not regain consciousness. He died several days later.
