MOSCOW, December 23 - RAPSI. A court revoked on December 21 two orders issued by the antimonopoly service to the Russian Railways regarding its passenger operations and building risks insurance contracts, the Russian Railways press office reported.

"The Moscow Commercial Court exempted Russian Railways from the fine on December 21, 2011," the company reported.

The watchdog fined the railways monopoly 157 million rubles ($5 million) in September 2011 that is 1% of the company's gains from passenger travel operations in 2009. The antimonopoly service said the fine was imposed because the Federal Passenger Company, the Russian Railways' subsidiary, failed to extend a travel documents processing contract with Surguttransagentstvo. The Russian Railways challenged the fine.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service ruled in April that the Russian Railways broke the antitrust law in connection to building risks insurance and fined the company. The watchdog said the company adopted a list insurers meeting the Russian Railways' requirements in insuring construction projects. The antimonopoly service decided that such list may limit competition and prevent other insurers from accessing the market.
