MOSCOW, December 14 - RAPSI, Dmitry Shchitov. A court will hear on January 16 an appeal filed by Pravda.Ru electronic media against the dismissal of its $34,700 lawsuit against Yandex for distributing Andrey Karaulov's film "Khodorkovsky. Pipes/Corpses," the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI /rapsinews.com).

Yandex is a major Russian Internet search engine.

Pravda.Ru is the founder of an on-line publication of the same name. It was established in 1999 by some journalists, who formerly worked for the Pravda daily, after the editorial board divided due to the newspaper sale.

The Ninth Commercial Court of Appeals held against Pravda.Ru on October 28 in its petition to re-establish the limitation period for its appeal.

The Moscow Commercial Court dismissed Pravda.Ru's lawsuit against Yandex on July 25. However, the claimant contested the judgment.

According to the plaintiff, the defendant reproduced and distributed Karaulov's film on its website on March 16. The plaintiff holds the rights to the movie under a license contract. The lawsuit reads that the film was shown on the website under the Yandex logo. Yandex also posted over 50 texts under the plaintiff's copyright.
