MOSCOW, October 18 - RAPSI, Dmitry Shchitov. A court has dismissed the lawsuit filed by VimpelCom telecommunications operator to cancel the antimonopoly service's decision to fine it for improper lottery advertising, the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI).

VimpelCom, which operates Beeline network, is a largest mobile operator in Russia.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service fined VimpelCom and Mobile Dialog 100,000 rubles for violating the law as a result of inappropriate advertising of "SMS chance" lottery without obtaining customers' consent.

The company advertised the lottery by sending text messages through the Beeline mobile network in May-June 2010.

The antimonopoly watchdog opened a case against the operator after it received a complaint from a customer. He claimed the mobile operator sent him advertising messages without his consent. Neither VimpelCom nor Mobile Dialog could disprove the man's complaint, the watchdog said.
