MOSCOW, September 27 - RAPSI, Alyona Yegorova. The court will hear on October 26 a cassation appeal against a court denial of the Defense Ministry's $4.3 million lawsuit against the Military Insurance Company (VSK), the court told the Russian Legal Information Agency.

Founded in 1992, VSK Insurance House is a major Russian insurance company. It offers over 100 types of insurance services, and operates over 840 divisions and offices across Russia.

The ministry sued the insurer after it refused to pay insurance benefits to newly retired officers in 2009, the ministry told the court.

The ministry's lawyer said the ministry had to enter into an insurance contract with Rosgosstrakh insurer in order to meet its obligations to the retired officers.

The Moscow Commercial Court held against the ministry's lawsuit on March 22 and an appeals court upheld the decision later.

The cassation appeal was filed by Rosgosstrakh, which is the third party in the case.
