MOSCOW, September 7 - RAPSI. The Moscow Magistrates Court has fined opposition leader Boris Nemtsov 1,000 rubles (approx $33) for spreading illegal propaganda in the run-up to local elections in St. Petersburg, the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI) reports from the court.

Nemtsov was detained on August 14 for and telling the local residents to vote against all of the candidates in the upcoming city elections.

The Magistrates court convicted the politician for violating election laws.
