MOSCOW, August 31 - RAPSI. The Supreme Courts Judicial Panel has scheduled for September 14 its hearing of the appeal filed by Nikita Tikhonov and Yevgenia Khasis, who were earlier convicted of murdering lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova, the court reported on its website.

The case documents were sent back to the court on August 26. The court reviewed the documents on August 30 to decide if any other materials were required for the hearing.

Markelov and Baburova were shot dead on November 19, 2009 in Moscow. A Moscow City Court jury found Tikhonov and his wife Khasis guilty of murdering Markelov for his active participation in the antifascist movement and support of anti-fascist campaigners.

The Moscow City Court sentenced Tikhonov to life in prison. Khasis was sentenced to 18 years in prison. They deny the charges.
