YEKATERINBURG, February 26 - RAPSI. The Sverdlovsk Region Court has sentenced Leonid Khabarov and Viktor Kralin, the alleged accomplices of retired military intelligence Colonel Vladimir Kvachkov jailed for planning an armed coup to 4.5 years in prison.

A third man in the case, Alexander Ladeishchikov, was given a two-year suspended sentence.

Khabarov and Kralin were found guilty under articles of the Criminal Code "Assistance for terrorist activities" and "Illegal possession of firearms and ammunition".
Alexander Ladeyshchikov was found guilty only under the latter.

On February 8, the Moscow City Court found Vladimir Kvachkov guilty of organizing an armed coup and sentenced him to 13 years in prison and one year of custodial restraint. Another defendant, Alexander Kiselyov, was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Kvachkov is thought to have masterminded plans to oust the government, leading a small group of followers.

The retired officer denied the charges, claiming that they lack a legitimate basis. He said the accusations that he recruited members of his People's Liberation Front of Russia and armed them with crossbows to carry out a coup were based on the testimony of a front member accused of extremism.

Kvachkov was arrested and charged with organizing a coup the day after he was acquitted of charges of attempting to assassinate former RAO UES head Anatoly Chubais.
Kvachkov is currently appealing his verdict in the Supreme Court.

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced on July 21, 2011 that Kvachkov's accomplices had been detained in Yekaterinburg.

FSB said that "weapons, ammunition, explosives and extremist literature" had been found during searches.

The Sverdlovsk Region Court began hearing the case against Kvachkov's alleged accomplices - Colonel Leonid Khabarov (Ret.), Viktor Kralin and Alexander Ladeishchikov - in July 2012.

They were charged with planning an armed coup and assisting terrorism, and faced sentences of up to 20 years in prison.
Khabarov's son organized a campaign to defend his father.
