SYKTYVKAR, February 27 - RAPSI. A court fined an individual two million rubles ($68,000) for a bribe attempt, RIA Novosti reported on Monday.

The man offered a 20,000 ruble ($680) bribe to an investigator so that he drops a criminal case against him.

The Federal Security Service arrested a 38-year-old resident of the Republic of Komi, Russia, and initiated a case against him for an official bribery attempt.

The court found the individual guilty and fined him two million rubles that is 40 times the bribe amount.

The court decision has not yet come into force and the defendant may appeal it.
