MOSCOW, February 22 - RAPSI. Former Moscow bailiff was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison and fined $604,400 for accepting a $10,000 bribe, the Federal Bailiffs Service's Moscow Department reported on Wednesday.

The bailiff was detained in autumn 2011 on suspicion of receiving 300,000 rubles ($604) in bribe from a debtor.

The sentence was passed by a Moscow district court and has now entered into force.

The relatively large amount of the fine is based on newly adopted legislative amendments. The draft law envisages four bribe types, specifically: a minor bribe of up to 25,000 rubles ($840) penalized by a 25- to 50-fold fine; a sizeable bribe of 25,000 to 150,000 rubles ($5,000) penalized by a 30- to 60-fold fine; a large bribe of 150,000 to 1 million rubles ($33,600) penalized by a 70- to 90-fold fine; and, an especially large bribe of over 1 million rubles penalized by an 80- to 100-fold fine.
