NOVOSIBIRSK, November 18 - RAPSI. A prosecutor demanded that Novosibirsk Region Vice-Governor Viktor Gergert, accused of embezzling $1.17 million in budget funds, be sentenced to five years in prison, RIA Novosti reported from the court on Friday.

The Gergert case has been heard since November 2010. Nevertheless, no restraint measures have been imposed on the vice-governor and he has gone on fulfilling his duties.

During the Friday hearing, the prosecutor said he believes that the vice-governor's guilt has been proved.

He also demanded Gergert's dismissal.
