Moscow court issues arrest warrant for former high-ranking police officer
MOSCOW, August 26 - RAPSI, Igor Petrushov. A Moscow district court on Friday issued an arrest warrant for former Domodedovo Interior Department head Boris Zhukov for abuse of office, his attorney Mikhail Voronin told the Russian Legal Information Agency (RAPSI).
With its decision, the court satisfied investigators petition for the former officers arrest.
The court ordered Zhukov to be detained until October 25, Voronin added.
The Moscow Region Investigative Committee earlier reported that Zhukov was detained on Thursday in connection with the infamous Moscow Region illegal casino ring case.
According to investigators, between 2008 and 2010, Zhukov and his subordinates would stop trucks loaded with illegal cargo, and extort between $25,000 to 80,000 from their owners in exchange for their release. After receiving the money, the officers would destroy records of the stops.
